Privacy

Updated 12 October 2026

Your coffee stays on your device and in your own iCloud. Kafo doesn't use accounts, ads or tracking, and we can't see your bags, brews or notes.

What Kafo keeps

Your bags, brews, recipes, grinders, tasting notes, coffees you had out, your wishlist, and photos of bags and café cards are stored on your device. If iCloud is on, Kafo syncs them through your own private iCloud account, so they're on your other devices too. Apple stores that data; we don't have access to it.

Photos and the camera

When you snap a bag or a café's card, Kafo reads its text on your device, and where Apple Intelligence is on, Apple's on-device model helps read it. Bag photos are cut out into a sticker on your device. Photos are kept with your data and aren't uploaded anywhere else. Kafo only asks for the camera when you choose to take a photo, and only reads the photos you pick from your library.

Location

When you log a coffee you're having out, Kafo can fill in the café's name from where you are. It asks for your location once, while you're using the app, and only for this. To find cafés nearby, the location is sent to Apple Maps. Kafo keeps the spot, rounded to about 10 metres, with that cup only, so it can suggest the same café next time. It's never shown on a map or shared. A photo you pick from your library may carry the place it was taken; Kafo uses it the same way. You can turn location off in iOS Settings; typing the café's name still works.

Notifications

Reminders, like the one that tells you a cold brew is ready, are scheduled on your device. They're optional.

Purchases

Kafo+ is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we receive no payment details and no personal information from it.

What Kafo doesn't do

This website

trykafo.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Deleting your data

Deleting a bag, brew, recipe, grinder, cup or wishlist item in Kafo removes it from your devices and your iCloud. To remove everything, delete the app and, if you use iCloud, delete Kafo's data in your device's iCloud settings.
